Re: 10-year Update to State of Human Relations in Greensboro

Dear Community Leader,

Several researchers from UNCG (led by Ruth DeHoog, head of Political Science) and NCA&T (led by Robert Davis, head of Sociology and Social Work) will be conducting community discussions about discrimination and barriers that hinder access to resources and opportunities in Greensboro.

A meeting will be held in each of the five districts of the city (listed below). After a brief informational session, smaller discussion groups will discuss the various topics and the kinds of people affected by discrimination. Refreshments will be served.

This is part of a 10-year follow up to the last State of Human Relations Report for Greensboro, with particular focus on housing, education, employment, and police behavior/justice system.

District 1: Sat., April 12, 10am-12pm, Shiloh Baptist Church, 1210 S. Eugene St.

District 2: Tues. April 8, 6-8 pm, Peeler Recreation Ctr., 1300 Sykes Ave.

District 3: Thurs., April 3, 6-8 pm, Christ Lutheran Church, 3600 Lawndale Ave.

District 4: Tues., April 8, 6-8 pm, Peace UCC, 2714 W. Market St.

District 5: Sat., April 5, 10am-12pm, Immanuel Baptist Church, 2432 High Point Rd.

All residents of the Greensboro area are welcome to attend and share their perspectives and experiences, although people’s responses may remain anonymous in the final reports. Please pass on this information to your organization and your network. If you have any questions, please contact project coordinator Eric Jones (334-4133).

Kind regards,

Ruth DeHoog, Head

Neighborhoods on Channel 13

Jim Collins has agreed to include the Greensboro Neighborhood Congress and Greensboro neighborhoods in general in the programs planned for Greensboro Connects TV. THANK YOU JIM and CHANNEL 13 !

Jim has asked that I inform him of upcoming neighborhood activities so that Channel 13 can get film of some of the things that are going on in neighborhoods. I'll be more than happy to tell Jim about your neighborhood's events as you tell me about them.
